My newsletter is the best way to stay in touch.

Caroline has spent upwards of 20 years in the advertising industry winning multiple awards for her work as both a copywriter and project manager for various ad campaigns.

She left Corporate America to create a soul-filling writing career that was more compassionate, fun and inclusive than bureaucratic corporate ladders allowed.

She originally hails from Michigan—points to her hand—which instilled an undeniable work ethic and taught her Vernors can cure any ailment. When not globetrotting on another adventure, you can spot her in Hawai'i—a place she’s lucky enough to call home.

She also hates talking in third person.

About

This is what I know to be true:
In all of my travels, I’ve found that we are far more alike than different.

I've heard the same hopes and dreams recounted by others, regardless of the country I'm in:
  • parents want the best for their children
  • we want to belong and feel loved
  • we want to leave the world a bit better than when we entered it

My mission is to capture that in my writing and with the stories I share.

I'm a globetrotting writer on a mission to show you the power behind your voice and the impact your story can have. Let's embrace this wild notion that being yourself is enough.

Hey—I'm Caroline Peterson.

I’ve found that vulnerability crushes loneliness and proves just how similar our stories can be.

I created not only a wonderful community of tenderheart subscribers who embody those values, but I also wrote a book—looking for publishers!—that is dedicated to anyone who is or wants to be brave enough to be unflinchingly themselves in a world filled with naysayers.

Within my writing, you’ll find an entertaining, accident-prone pal making sure you know just how enough you are. Because for far too long, I believed I wasn’t. I talk openly about the pain behind a decade of estrangement with a parent and what healing looks like. As a proud patron of therapy, I’ve advocated for your mental health long before it became a hashtag in the Insta-verse.

Friends I've had for decades and new followers alike will tell you that a couple things remain constant ‘round here: my love for travel and all things England. I’ve lived and worked in England, hiked two 80+ mile trails across England, got married in England and apparently dodged a bullet by not chasing after Prince William in England. I’ve been to 27 countries and counting which means I excitedly barrel home with my bag (and belly) full of news foods and adventures to share. It’s a fulfilling life practice to explore new places and share in new cultures, ideas and ideals.

As a woman whose thighs have touched since I was a wee lass, I never quite fit in with the bizarre, unreachable standard set for beauty and athletes. Some of my most well-read articles discuss the need for representation of bigger bodies. I actively work to change what's been defined for us by the well-oiled billion dollar beauty industry. To date, I’ve trained for and run 3 half marathons, I-don’t-know-how-many 5Ks and 10Ks and more recently, started hiking double-digit distances in the English countryside. And my thighs still touch. Crazy.

Experience has taught me that advocating and caring for others doesn't make you weak. It makes you human.

After a soul-defining internship in London at Anti-Slavery International, I grew more confident in speaking out about injustices. My advocacy work often means I'm asked why I take a certain stance on issues that may not directly affect me. But, I think that's the crux of so many issues; caring about our community beyond our own doorstep.

Given the option of making someone else momentarily happy for abiding by the norms, or dealing with the repercussions of going against the grain, I will time and time again choose my own path.

So when someone asks why now?

I tell them it's because I’m brave enough to try.
